To see the Cinque Terre villages perched on the cliff tops above the Mediterranean and discover the hidden magic of Monterosso was like stepping back in time. Thank you for sharing it with me.

Treasures of Italia 10 days/9 nights
(5 nights in Ravenna PLUS 4 nights in Venice)

Ravenna and surrounds

Hidden away between Florence, Milan, and Venice is the region known as Emilia Romagna and the provinces of Ravenna, Faenza, Ferrara and Modena. This area is agriculturally rich and known as ‘the food bowl’ of Italy. It’s the region from where many of Italy’s noblest families and greatest courts come.

We’ll spend 5 nights in historic Ravenna soaking up its rich, artistic heritage and cultural diversity with its Oriental legacy of Byzantine culture. Our unique accommodation is in a beautifully restored Merchant’s Mansion in the heart of the old city.

The treasures of Ravenna, are the gold of the mosaics, the blue of the Adriatic and the green of the luxuriant pinewoods which skirt the beach.

We visit Briseghella, Oriolo di Fighe on the Sangiovese trail, the Ferrari factory in Modena, the Pinewoods of San Vitale. We’llsee the magnificent mosaics at night in Galla Placidia and then on to: Faenza – home of slow food, fine wines, olive oil, thermal spas, ceramics, cycling and golf Modena and Ferrara - the lands of noble families and fast cars and of course Parma - the home of Parmesan cheese and Parma ham.

Venice “Queen of the Adriatic”

The second half of our ‘Treasures of Italia’ Tour we spend 4 nights in magical Venice - exploring off the tourist trail with our resident Venetian. This is a wonderful chance to get to know the ‘real’ Venice as our itinerary is specially designed to give you a good understanding of the history of this unforgettable city whilst simultaneously leaving time for you to soak up the rich environment. Experience the wonders of StMark’s and discover the Frari and Rialto. Visit Luciano’s ‘closed door’ glassworks on the Island of Murano and soak up the splendour of the majestic La Fenice Theatre.

Special Cultural Events: Vivaldi Concert, Musical Soiree at Palazzo Barbarigo-Minotto.
