In Lucca (a unique walled, pedestrians only city) we’ll spend time exploring its Roman to Renaissance heritage along a maze of alleyways encircled by massively thick 16th century walls. You'll be transported back in history as we discover the fortress walls of Lucca with our specialist guide and architect, Ray Role. We'll visit the beautifully preserved summer villas and gardens of the old Lucchese nobility set amidst the hills of wine and olive oil outside the city walls. We’ll dine in the surrounding hills and sample good wine and traditional Tuscan cooking. We’ll visit the ancient Maritime Kingdom of Pisa and the famous Piazza dei Miracoli with its massive Medici Cathedral and ‘leaning ’ Bell Tower.
