Dianella Morgan

As an Australian with a passion for Italy, living in Tuscany whilst studying painting, culture and language – becoming ‘almost Italian’ - has been like a dream come true.

Three years ago when I exchanged my role as owner and CEO of a successful Australian marketing agency for that of artist in Italy, I had little idea of where my new path would lead.

It has been a life-changing experience for me to find myself now part of ‘la famiglia’ on a small farm in Tuscany where we celebrate each season by savouring the seasonal foods and the wines and oil produced on the farm.

In my previous travels to Italy I was enchanted by history of Rome and Florence and as I followed my tour guide along those ancient cobblestones I wondered what lay behind that well trodden tourist trail. Finding the answer to that curiosity - in farmers’ fields and small villages - from the sea to the mountains - has been my journey.

Now, completely seduced and impassioned by ‘la bella vita’, the beautiful life, I’m eager to share my experiences with friends and guests through my painting, writing and Bella Italia tours.

Growing up in a typical Australian home in suburban Sydney, my curiosity about the world was stimulated by the endlessly fascinating images from faded and dog-earred “National Geographic” magazines, which filled my very Ozzie world.

I always pined for the exotic and knew I’d finally ‘arrived’ when I worked my way into a job as an international travel agent and the doors to the universe opened their arms to me under the guise of the much pursued travel agent’s ‘educational tours’. Once my appetite was whetted, I was off and running, hungry to explore what other worlds had to offer.

Whilst in Sydney I manage my business, Bright Ideas Business Development and Marketing, but twice a year - in Spring and late Summer - I lock my briefcase in my office, pull on my walking shoes, grab my Amex card and head for Bella Italia where I can immerse myself in another culture and quench my thirst for history and other less known worlds.
